The Oorja Files

The Oorja Files is a series of archived conversations. In the first part of this series, we talk to Oorja CEO, Sh. Rajiv Madhok. During the course of a “roadtrip” (one of many) to the Bharti office in Gurgaon, we touch upon a variety of different topics including what it means to be successful, the progress that’s happening in India, comparisons between the Indian model and the Chinese model, the difference between North India and South India, the impact of reservations on the private sector, and the relationship between VAS providers and the operators. Sh. Rajiv Madhok offers some unique and interesting insights into his philosophy, his religion and his thoughts about the telecom boom in India. The motivation for “The Oorja Files” came out of the fact that although it was easy to access whitepapers and datasheets from companies about their products, it was not always easy to have an intellectual one-on-one with a CEO and interact with him on a personal level. This video, titled “Conversations with Rajiv Madhok” is the first part in a series titled “The Oorja Files” and future editions will feature interviews with other remarkable people.

  1. pre-meltdown ..conversation ..facinating ..now if you drive through the same road it could go on like …..this company is looking for buyers,,, that is in big trouble… that is begging for bail out :) .. and driving is surely a chilling experience in India ..no one drives straight and in lane .. we are surely on a fast track to progress

  2. Real Freedom = Not having to drive in one lane and freedom to zig-zag like a Bollywood fillum hero.

P.S. : Sometimes I leave satirical comments and some people don’t understand satire. Hence this disclaimer – Arunabh Das

  3. I hope the meltdown hasn’t affected India as much as it has affected U.S. I am not prepared to accept that India is so tightly coupled to the U.S. market that a glitch there will ripple and propagate all the way to India. Having said that, it is now clear that major U.S. banks such as Bank of America and Citi will be nationalised. This has to do with the Swedish theory of bank-cleansing, which states that banks need to be cleansed of toxic assets every once in a while. More on this soon. – Arunabh Das

  4. So, the stock market showed signs of rallying today. Is it the beginning of the end? For a few months now, the world has been trying to figure out where the bottom really is and I’d like to go ahead and predict that this is the bottom. We might only find out months later that this is the bottom. Anyone second that? – Arunabh Das

  5. So, it was exactly five days back that I predicted on here that the economy would start to bounce back. Since then, the DOW has climbed 9% in one week. So I was right after all. Let’s see how far these prediction carry forward. – Arunabh Das
